Our Verdict
Patagonia’s Torrentshell 3L pants, are made from their 3 layer H2No® waterproof/breathable fabric and are a good technical pant for activities in inclement weather. They have long side zips that make putting on and taking off swift, which is highly beneficial if the weather suddenly takes a turn. The 2 settings on the press stud along with the elastic around the heel edge make them fit well at the bottom. The fit is quite straight and unfussy, with articulated darts at the knees for ease of movement. The 2 zipped hip pockets are sizeable and have soft mesh lining. The drawstring and elastic waist band help these over-trousers sit snugly on the waist. They are available in regular (32” inseam) and short length (30” inseam), so getting the right fit is more achievable. They pack down fairly small, so can fit in a backpack, when not required.
