Our Verdict
The Rab Torque Mountain Pants are an excellent choice for any mountain pursuit, from hiking and scrambling to multi-pitch climbing. Built with a rugged yet stretchy Matrix double-weave nylon fabric, they provide exceptional freedom of movement without sacrificing durability.
Key features like the articulated knees, crotch gusset, and hem gusset panels allow uninhibited high steps and leg mobility. The part-elastic waistband with snap/zip closure provides a secure, comfortable fit.
Multiple pockets, including two hand pockets, a thigh pocket, and a rear pocket, give plenty of storage options. The low-profile bonded belt loops keep things sleek.
While not fully waterproof, the fluorocarbon-free DWR coating offers decent water resistance in light rain. The fabric breathes well for active use.
Weighing 358g (Medium), the Torques are heavier than some hiking pants, but the burlier construction is appreciated for rugged mountain adventures.
Some may want more adjustability from the waistband, but overall, the Torque pants nail the balance of mobility, protection, and versatility needed for moving efficiently in alpine environments. They are a quality, solid performer from Rab.
