Our Verdict
Patagonia’s Long-Sleeved Self-Guided Sun Shirt is one of those shirts that genuinely balances function and comfort on hot, active days. At 197g (size UK 12), it’s made from 100% recycled polyester with mechanical stretch, offering good freedom of movement and impressively quick drying. The UPF 40+ rating is reassuring when you're in and out of direct sun. I particularly appreciate the open venting across the back—it noticeably improves airflow when things heat up. The double-layer collar stands up neatly for extra neck coverage, a welcome feature on bright, windless ridges.
As a glasses wearer, I love the integrated lens cleaner stitched into the hem—it’s small, subtle, and useful. The shirt runs on the relaxed side, so you might want to size down if you prefer a closer fit. While it’s not something I’d grab for cooler or high-output conditions, it's ideal for steady walking, paddling, or staying comfortable while in the sun.
