The Women's Downpour Eco Pant is next-generation legwear for walkers and hikers who are committed to protecting the world as well as exploring it. Built from recycled 2.5-layer Pertex® Revolve fabric with a fluorocarbon-free DWR treatment, it is our first ever mono-polymer waterproof shell pant. It uses a polyester outer and membrane, which means that, in addition to being 100% recycled, it also has the future potential to be fully recycled at the end of its life.
The pant can be pulled on easily over trousers and walking boots in an unexpected shower, thanks to its knee-length side zips and elasticated waistband. And when temperatures rise and the pace quickens, the side zips also enable some welcome extra ventilation. Soft, dry, lightweight and packable, with waterproof performance of 20,000mm HH and breathability of 25,000g MVTR, this is a responsible and effective choice for quick-grab weather protection on hiking and hillwalking adventures.
Our Verdict
Rab's Womens Downpour Eco Pants use Pertex Shield Revolve which is recycled material with impressive green credentials. The outer fabric is also 100% recycled, hence the 'Eco' name. The 20,000 HH rating and 20,000 MVTR are pretty impressive on a pair of pants with this price tag. Features wise the pants have an elasticated waist with a drawcord for a more personal fit, along with knee high side zips which you can get on over most boots.
Overall the pants use tough 50D fabric and more suited to general, all-round outdoor use. They aren't as lightweight as many others on the market but they is certainly more durable and provide amazing value for money with the set of features combined with the levels of waterproofing and breathability.
