The Element Stretch has the feel of a softshell but the performance of a waterproof. This versatile jacket is a great all-rounder balancing weight, comfort and performance.
Montane says
Constructed using AQUA PRO STRETCH, a durable 3 Layer waterproof fabric with good stretch and breathability for ultimate comfort and freedom of movement. This well featured jacket is suitable for mountain walking, climbing and everything in between.
Our Verdict
Montane's Womens Element Stretch provides stretch and comfort above what you'd expect from a waterproof shell jacket. The fabric is surprisingly durable for the low weight and amount of stretch it has. The design is great for everything from full on climbing to general walks and everything in between so it provides a good level of waterproofing and breathability. The freedom of movement from the stretch and fit of the jacket means that it stays comfortable whatever you're doing in it.
The versatility of the jacket is on show with the helmet compatible hood, articulated arms and harness compatible pockets showing that it is ready for climbs and scrambles. The adjustable cuffs, hem and roll away hood with a wired peak add practicality which will appeal to walkers too. It is obviously not the lightest shell but the weight, comfort and protection is well balanced to make up for this.
