Our Verdict
The Osprey Aura AG LT is a brilliantly engineered rucksack that will suit those with a heavier kit list. This bag is overkill if you have a very lightweight set-up and keep your trail weight to a minimum. However, it’s an exceptional load-hauler if you're carrying a more robust or comprehensive set-up. As this is from Osprey, you know you’re getting a well-made pack with a suspended back system that’s now fully integrated into the hipbelt. This is one of the most comfortable packs I’ve used. The women’s specific fit is well thought out and provides excellent shaping through the harness and hipbelt.
The lightweight frame transfers the load effectively onto your hips, so your back and shoulders do far less work. Osprey’s signature trampoline-style mesh back panel keeps airflow high and back sweat low. I’m a big fan of the plush shoulder straps and the hipbelt that hugs the body for a stable, supportive carry.
There’s no dedicated trekking pole system, which may put some off. You can strap them to the ice axe loops, but it’s not ideal. Another small gripe: the lower compression straps run across the water bottle pockets, so when pulled tight, bottles are hard to access on the move. The floating lid is removable if you want to shed a few grams, though it also houses the included rain cover. The large front shove-it pocket is perfect for stashing wet weather kit, and the curved side zip is a brilliant touch for accessing the main compartment without fully opening the lid.
A top-class pack with a women’s specific fit, designed to carry serious weight in comfort over long miles.
