Our Verdict
Pack liners are a brilliant way tot ensure all of your gear is safe from getting a soaking, personally I find them much, much more convenient than a rain cover, which is the other alternative (though they can be used in conjunction with each other) you don’t need to stop and put them on when it starts raining, and in hight winds pack covers can be useless. The down side is, anything on the out side of your pack is liable to get wet, but if you are mind full of what you pack on the out side of your pack this isn’t really an issue, the outside of my pack will be for things I need close to hand, my waterproofs (which I will have on if it’s raining) water bottles, water filter, shelter, all things I don’t mind getting wet. It also means you don’t have to bring multiple dry bags, which saves weight.
