Our Verdict
I'm really impressed with this garment, not just because of its 3-layer construction, well-fitting hood and innovative drawcord usage, but also because it’s very reasonably priced, for the level of protection this gives you, it really stands alone in this price range.
The Thunder Pass has a nice adjustable hood that gives good protection; however, it doesn’t have a stiffened peak, something I’d like to see. The hood can be rolled away and stashed in the collar
The cut of the jacket is only down to the belt line, so if you like a jacket to hang down past your pockets this may not be the jacket for you.
The cuffs are partially elasticated and also fasten with a Velcro tab so you get a nice tight fit, that has a little give. The hem of the jacket is cinched in with two draw cords you access from the two large hand pockets, this took a little time to get used to, but overall found it to be an innovative way to keep the drawcord from dangling down below your jacket, so it avoids getting snagged or tangled, a nice feature.
