The Trekmates Thaw Gloves are a warm, insulating, and versatile pair of gloves that are perfect for a variety of winter activities. They pack down small and weigh incredibly little, making them easy to carry as an emergency pair.

Our Verdict
The Trekmates Thaw Gloves are a warm and insulating pair of gloves that pack down very small and weigh incredibly little. They can be used as a standalone layer or as part of a winter layering system with a liner and a protective outer shell, this set up would protect your hands in almost any UK winter condition.
The gloves have no protective palm, which saves on weight and costs, but I would have preferred some protection. The gloves use Primaloft Gold insulation, which is aided by a brushed microfleece lining. This makes the gloves very comfortable and cosy.
The gloves have some touchscreen capabilities, but only on the forefinger of each glove. This means that you cannot zoom in and out if you are using your phone to navigate, which seems like a silly omission.
Despite the few drawbacks, I really like these gloves. They are incredibly warm and pack away into their own included stuff sack, so they can be used as an emergency pair, even if you are not expecting freezing conditions. They are very reasonably priced and can be used on dog walks, all the way up to winter mountain scrambles (with a protective outer layer), and everything in between. They are very versatile and easy for me to recommend.
