The legs and frame are made from proprietary DAC aluminium alloy for outstanding strength to weight. Setup is fast and easy, thanks to a single internal bungee cord that self-assembles the legs. Lightweight and collapsible, the cot packs down to a tight cylinder in its included stuff sack for easy transport. The Helinox High Cot measures 69 x 191cm and weighs 2.8kg.
Our Verdict
This incredibly strong and comfortable cot is a little heavy for a backpacking trip but is an amazing car camping bed. Sleeping on this is probably the best night’s sleep I've had outside.
DAC aluminium poles are best known for their use in some of the strongest tents in the world, including Hilleberg, and that’s what the Helinox Cot One uses to support the bed. The sleeping surface is also incredibly tough but very breathable, which surprised me. It has no insulation, so in cold weather, it may be a good idea to incorporate a pad, or an under-quilt, as you would with a hammock.
