The G2 Alpine Gloves are tough, windproof, and water-resistant winter mountain gloves that are comfortable to wear. They are not the warmest gloves on the market, so you can pair them with a thin-liner glove in extreme cold.
Mountain Equipment says:
A lightweight and supremely dextrous soft shell glove for ski-touring and mountaineering.
The surgical precision of the G2 is welcome whether adjusting boot buckles or placing crucial climbing protection. The goatskin leather palm and soft shell outer combine durability, windproofness and comfort, while the tricot lining means they provide vital warmth.
Our Verdict
The G2 Alpine Gloves are tough winter mountain gloves that are not the warmest on the market. If you want to use them in extreme cold, you can pair them with a thin-liner glove.
The gloves are made of a tough polyamide outer that protects the windproof Gore-Tex membrane. The inner is backed with a plush tricot lining that adds comfort and warmth. The palm of the glove is reinforced with supple goat leather, which extends the majority of the way around each finger.
The gloves are windproof but not waterproof. However, they are highly water resistant and can easily brush off snow, sleet, and light rain.
The gloves have an excellent fit. The fingers are pre-curved and anatomically stitched, so they manipulate easily and bend with your fingers, which reduces fatigue with extended wear.
