The Fjällräven Keb 52 is an ergonomic and robust all-season backpack with an easily adjustable carrying system. It has a classic Fjallraven look - and at the same time it features the latest functionality for technical trekking, including the benefits of their new waterproof Bergshell material.
Fjällräven says:
Ergonomic robust backpack for year-round use. It has Fjällräven’s award-winning wooden frame and durable, sustainable materials that will last for many years of adventures in rough terrain. Slim profile gives freedom of movement and its well-planned compartments make it easy to organize gear – like the front pocket that has space for reinforcement layers or a small shovel. The carrying system is designed to distribute heavy loads and can easily be adjusted to suit different back lengths.
Our Verdict
The Fjällräven Keb 52 has been developed for demanding treks where freedom of movement is just as important as durability and protection from difficult terrain. It's mostly constructed from G-1000 Heavy Duty Eco S which is Fjällräven's own hardwearing and versatile fabric. It's classed as the extra hardwearing version of the Original G-1000 but with a finer, smoother weave. The dense weave is made from polyester, cotton and is impregnated with Greenland Wax which makes it extremely durable, very well ventilated and also wind and water resistant.
The base and side sections of the pack are made with Fjällräven's new Bergshell fabric which is a waterproof and extremely durable material made from 31% recycled nylon using a newly-developed flat ripstop technique - less likely to catch. The frame of the pack is made from laminated birch wood which works just as well as a metal frame but with the advantage of it being more environmentally friendly to make, as it reduces it's co2 output by 10%.
The pack has a classic Fjällräven look - and at the same time it features the latest functionality for all season trekking and ski touring. There's a huge list of features so I won't go on to repeat them all, but each one has been well though out and you can see that a lot of attention has gone into every detail on this pack. The packs easy to adjust and offers a good amount of padding on the back, shoulder straps and hip belt for carrying comfort.
The Keb packs are definitely not the lightest rucksacks available but they are comfortable and incredible durable so will last longer than most.
