This is a workhorse of a two-person tent, a blend of all-weather protection, liveable space, and robust design. A freestanding geodesic tent that excels in bad weather.
Wechsel says:
The Venture 2 is a freestanding geodesic tent for two person - including two vestibules. Two aluminum hubs at the poles ensure high wind stability. The inner tent is set up first. The additional pole forms the vestibule, as soon as the fly sheet is stretched over it. For a very light weather protection, the fly sheet can be set up by using the Groundsheet. The inner tent is equipped with mosquito mesh in the doors as well as at the foot and head end. Additional inner tent pockets ensure order and offer space for otherwise odds and ends.

Our Verdict
This isn't our lightest-weight tent, but it's a robust option in bad weather. The Venture 2 has a unique pole structure; two crossing poles form the geodesic dome, with a cross pole adding internal height and forming the vestibule. This cross pole can be adjusted from inside the tent; loosening the poles create more vestibule space while tightening the pole adds stability.
The Venture has two doors and two vestibules; the vestibules are a good size, accommodate a lot of gear, and can be used to cook. The doors are large but long, so you will not look graceful entering and exiting the tent.
The tent's pole construction and four guy-out points make this a robust tent in high winds. The tent has a durable 70 denier floor that will be tough enough for most terrains you find yourself in. The outer fly is constructed of ripstop polyester with a HH of 5000mm, which will shrug off all but the worst storms; as I said, it's heavy but heavy-duty in its feature set. This is a tent I would happily wait out a storm in.
The tent is very straightforward and intuitive to pitch; when I first pitched it, the attachment of the cross pole took me a minute to figure out, but it's very straightforward once you appreciate it attaches right down at floor level. The fly attaches with colour-coded clips, which makes set-up very easy. It took me 6 minutes to erect the tent.
Thanks to the high pole structure, the internal tent had a good amount of liveable space and a lot of headroom. The tent does not taper at the feet, as some two-person tents do, two regular mats can be placed side by side, but if you use a wide mat, this is more suited for solo use. If you intend to use this tent solo, it's a palace. The inner is mainly constructed of fabric, though mesh panels above the door, at the foot and the head end of the tent help with ventilation and help to reduce condensation.

Features
- Reinforced guy points (Power Triangle): Especially at a polyester fabric with a PU coating, it is helpful if the stress points are supported. As a result, the force does not act selectively, but is spreaded over a larger area.
- Reflective line with Guylineflag: The guy ropes are reflective. They can be adjusted with the help of the Linelock and the guyline flags ensure that the lines are clearly visible and always in order.
- APEX Ventilation: With the help of apex ventilation flaps air flow is increased between the inner and flysheets, helping regulate humidity and temperature. They are securely sewn into the seams. They do not have to pulled open and can be closed with Velcro fastenings to prevent them flapping noisily in the wind.
- Color coded Poles: The pole-endtips and pole-channels are color coded for easy pitching
- Rectangular inner tents: The tunnel tents have a rectangular cut and do not taper at the foot end. A rectangular floor plan is particularly useful for thick sleeping mats so that the mats do not overlap at the foot end.
- Double Loops: Double loops allow two different tensioning options.
- Mosquito net at the innertent: The inner tent is made of a breathable and water-repellent fabric, which enables condensation water not to penetrate the inside of the tent, but rolls off the outside of the inner tent. The door of the innertent are equipped in the upper half with mosquito net. This ensures a good exchange of air without causing an uncomfortable draft in the tent.
- Sustainable Connection between Inner and Outer: Tent The connection between the inner and outer tent is practical and sustainable. The rubber can be knotted tighter or easily replaced if necessary.
