Big Agnes says
Our award-winning ultralight bikepacking tents are built for on and off road adventures with features you know from our best-selling line of Copper Spur HV UL tents. Newly redesigned with more interior volume and using stronger, lighter, more sustainably sourced fabrics. The Copper Spur HV UL Bikepack tent is enhanced and equipped with functions you need for two-wheeled travel, plus a few extras like the awning-style vestibules and our proprietary TipLok Tent Buckle™ to simplify setup.
Featuring a shortened 12" Shortstik Poleset for optimal handlebar, pannier, and saddlebag storage, complete with a burly bikepacking-ready compression sack that attaches readily to your bike with integrated daisy chain webbing. Stash your helmet in the added webbing located on the tent body exterior and dry out wet clothes and gear on daisy chain webbing loops integrated on the fly exterior. Interior storage solutions utilize dead space above your feet and keep gear stowed and out of the way. Extended footprint creates a vestibule floor for dry, dirt-free changing and additional gear storage (sold separately). The Copper Spur HV UL Bikepack tent is your dedicated shelter for single-track and double-track, overnight adventures.
Our Verdict
Big Agnes' Copper Spur HV UL1 Bikepacking Tent has seen improvements to make it more user friendly and more environmentally friendly. A key feature being rolled out across a number of Big Agnes tents is the use of solution dyed fabrics. This is a great move for a number of reasons, firstly the positive environmental impacts which see a significant reduction in both energy and water consumption during manufacture. Secondly, this process means the tents are much more resistant to colour fade from UV. On a practical level, the tent benefits from a slight change in the pole design which now has shorter sections for easier packing on the bike, more intuitive setup for quick and easy pitching making for a more usable feel.
The classic Copper Spur pole set up remains, keeping the weight at a minimum while providing an excellent amount of internal and vestibule space. As with most Big Agnes tents there are loads of handy storage pockets inside as well as simple features to make setting up faster and easier. There are a number of other tweaks in the design to bring more welcome improvements such as changes to the pole set, reducing the section lengths, making it easier to pack onto your bike along with a more simplified, user friendly set up. This is a great bikepacking tent that provides excellent space for the low weight and this version is much nicer to use thanks to the well thought out changes.
