Lightweight, tough and remarkably versatile, our Snow & Sand pegs are unique. After finding most so-called snow pegs to be too soft – they would bend in any but the fluffiest snow – we developed our own. Made from hardened aluminum, our Snow Pegs are built to withstand both very hard usage, including the inevitable contact with shovels, crampons and other winter gear, and very hard snow. At the same time, they are remarkably lightweight. The integrated line and hook gives you the flexibility either to bury the peg sideways in snow or sand, Deadman style, or to use it in a traditional, upright fashion.
Our Verdict
Hilleberg's Snow & Sand Peg Set offers a serious upgrade for any tent user going to pitch on the snow or sand. These huge pegs are 31cm long and 3cm wide for they provide a huge anchor for supporting your tent in poor conditions even when pitching on soft surfaces. For their size, these pegs are surprisingly lightweight and are seriously tough and hardwearing.
Obviously, they can be used with any tent and in any soft ground that you would be going in to as well as snowy or sandy conditions. They really stand out when the weather gets a bit wild and you realise just how strong and supportive they are. The extended cord loops with hook allows versatility as you can use them as a normal peg or bury them sideways in the snow without loosing them. This loop and hook design make them much easier to use in poor conditions, especially when you might be wearing big gloves too.
