A reasonably lightweight traditional hiking boot that offers a lot of support over a variety of terrain. The Rush TRK LT GTX utilises Scarper's own Presa sole, a hardwearing and adaptable tread that grips well and helps to shed mud.
Scarpa says:
The RUSH TRK LT GTX is a lightweight ripstop fabric version, for daily mountain hikes. It’s a comfortable shoe with technologies that help reduce foot fatigue during activity. The right mix of comfort, stability and lightness.
Our Verdict
The Rush TRK LT GTX are solid all-rounders. They are great for low-level hikes but excel over rocky, uneven mountain climbs.
The boot's upper is mainly constructed from a hard-wearing ripstop, but the lower of the boot is protected by a durable plastic film, with a tough rubber toe box to ensure the boot's longevity. This is all backed with a Gore-tex membrane that wraps around the gusseted tongue to ensure complete waterproofness.
My stand-out feature is the boot's ability to “lock” the laces at the third Gromit. This allows for adaptable lacing for different foot shapes and configurations for different terrains, especially when ascending or descending.
The boot's soles are very impressive. They look untouched from my test walks, with no wear or nicks, so I'm confident in their longevity. The sole is made in-house at Scarper and performs well in wet and dry terrains.
Sizing can be tricky with Scarper (or any European boot manufacturer); however, I usually take a 9, and the EU 43 fits me perfectly.
If you want to invest in a solid traditional boot, you will get years of use out of these.
