The SuperStrand LT Insulated Vest is a very lightweight insulated layer that, for the price, makes it ideal for those wanting a good packable mid layer or a warm, lightweight outer-layer to provide warmth when the temperature drops.

Our Verdict
The Outdoor Research SuperStrand LT vest is a very lightweight insulated jacket that offers a lot of warmth but is also very well priced, making it one of the best value jackets for its weight and insulation level.
Outdoor Research uses VerticalX™ insulation in order to give a very good level of warmth. The baffle design also means that the jacket can be compressed to a small size, making it ideal for use as a mid-layer when the temperature drops or when you stop to take a drink or rest. It will easily fit in a rucksack with the rest of your kit, so it is perfect to always have on you.
In terms of fit, the SuperStrand is less of a technical fit, but this just means that you don’t need to worry about fitting other layers underneath. However, the lack of adjustment at the bottom of the jacket (i.e. no elastic drawcord) was a bit disappointing.
