The Exped Mega Pump takes the effort out of setting up camp and packing it down again. It’s designed with base camp comfort in mind, not minimalism.
Exped says:
The Exped Widget can inflate Exped's MegaMat Duo LW in 4 minutes and can do so up to 4 times. A fully charged Widget will easily inflate a pair of Exped mats for over a week. In lamp mode, a fully charged Widget will illuminate your tent for up to 72 hours at the low power setting. The 3600 mAh power bank, when fully charged, provides at least one phone charge.
Our Verdict
At 360 g, the Mega Pump is no ultralight accessory, but the weight makes sense if you’re inflating something like a MegaMat Duo. It’s impressively quick, inflating my large mat in around four minutes, and the deflate function makes rolling and stashing the mat far easier. I appreciated the included valve adapters, though I found the universal adapter fiddly with other brands.
The rechargeable battery is a handy upgrade, with a USB-C port that fits my existing kit. The pump isn’t whisper-quiet, but it’s not disruptive either.
I wouldn’t pack the Mega Pump for a fast-and-light mission, but for base camp setups or vehicle camping, it’s made inflating and deflating bulky mats much less of a chore. This will feel like a welcome luxury if you’ve ever wrestled with a big mat on cold mornings.
