Montbell's featherweight tripod camp chair is ideal for backpacking. It's compact and lightweight, setting up quickly. The chair is comfortable and durable but may be small for larger users.
Montbell says:
Ultralight tripod-style chair compact enough for backcountry adventures. Quickly folds up and unfolds in less than a second. Compact enough to fit in side pocket or front pocket of a backpack.
Our Verdict
Montbell's ultralight tripod camp chair strikes a nice balance between packability and comfort for backcountry adventures. At just 526g (18.5oz), it is incredibly lightweight and compact enough to fit into a backpack's side pocket. This makes it a viable luxury item for backpacking trips when you want a chair to relax in at camp.
The tripod-style design allows the chair to set up and pack down in seconds. The included carry bag makes it easy to store and attach to the outside of a pack. With a respectable 15.7-inch seat height and 600D polyester construction, it should provide enough comfort and durability for short backcountry stints.
However, the low weight and small packed size come with some trade-offs. The 12.6 x 12.6-inch seat dimensions are compact, so more significant users may find it constricting.
