Taking ultra-light to the next level, the new hornet elite OSMO 1p tent is the lightest free-standing tent we currently do. Built with minimalist, long-distance hikers in mind, the Hornet Elite still comes with some nice features for home comforts on the trail.

Our Verdict
One of the first in a new range of tents built with NEMO’s new OSMO fabric. Made from 100% recycled materials, free of any harmful PFCs or PFAS, this new poly-nylon maximizes performance, without impacting the environment. Made from a weave of strong, lightweight nylon and, a dimensionally stable (doesn’t stretch) polyester, which also doesn’t absorb water. NEMO has created a new fabric, that holds its shape better, has improved water repellency, and also saves weight.
For a tent that weighs less than 700 grams, some really nice features have been added, storage space is always nice and a gear pocket has been included. A night light pocket, somewhere to stash your head torch, which sits above your head, and the mesh diffuses the light giving everything a cozy glow. My favourite feature, one I now hope to see in all tents, not just ultralight ones, is the new gatekeeper door ties, an incredibly simple clip used to secure the door in place when not closed, so simple in fact I’m amazed no one else has come up with them.
For a 1-man tent, I didn’t feel claustrophobic at all, in fact, it has a generous amount of headroom. The fly bar clip, above your head, and the twin volumizing clips located on either side of the tent provide even more living space. The Triangulated volumizing guy-outs located at the feet, again improve the living space and protect the sleeping bag from condensation. Large doors make for easy access and make the tent a nice place just to hang out, giving impressive views and access to the vestibule, which again is of a good size.
Overall I’m ridiculously impressed with this tent. it has a lot of features and is incredibly user-friendly. For everything but summit camps, I think this is an excellent backpacking tent.
