A Windshell with added insulation, this is a highly packable, versatile layer you will get three seasons use out of.
Montane says:
The Fireball Nano is a warm, highly breathable and stretchy jacket designed for multi-season use. Featuring a FEATHERLITE™ Air nylon stretch outer and recycled 40g/m2 Dynamic Eco Insulation in the core, this versatile layer offers the warmth of an insulated jacket with the protection of a wind shell. Low bulk cuffs and an adjustable hem provide maximum flexibility when working hard in cold conditions, and an integrated stuff pocket lets you neatly stow the jacket when not in use.
Our Verdict
This is an unusual one, essentially, it’s a wind shell with an insulating layer around the body's core but none on the arms or in the hood. The whole of the jacket is made from a stretchy nylon outer, with Dynamic Eco Insulation in the core body; this, too, moves and stretches with the jacket.
It’s a nice, unrestrictive fit. There aren’t too many adjustment points, and only the hem of the jacket can be cinched down with a draw cord. The cuffs and hood are simply elasticated, which cuts down on weight.
The jacket is very breathable but also insulating. This is a good piece as a put-on and leave-on layer, especially for autumn and early spring.
