Montane's updated Featherlite Trail Hoodie is a lightweight, breathable wind shell with a soft nylon finish.
Montane says:
The Featherlite Hoodie is a super light and packable windproof layer that provides breathable wind protection for fast-paced mountain days. Made using lightweight Wind Barrier Dynamic fabric and featuring its own integrated stuff pocket, this hoodie stows effortlessly in any pack – ready for whatever’s up ahead.
Our Verdict
This windproof, fast-moving jacket packs down incredibly small and weighs just 123gs (based on the medium size jacket). A very versatile layer that is excellent to shove into a rucksack side pocket or running vest when you aren't sure what the weather has in store for you
Its features are minimalistic; you get one Napoleon chest pocket, which can accommodate a mobile phone, and the jacket can stuff into this pocket, so it is brilliantly packable. Semi-elasticated cuffs cinch the jacket around the wrist, and a simple drawcord around the hem blocks wind from entering the jacket; incredibly lightweight yet still user-friendly.
It's more breathable than other Windshells I've used; it uses Montane's "wind barrier dynamic" nylon which is nice and soft against the skin; the soft nylon and the air vents under each armpit facilitate good airflow, so you don't overheat. It's also quiet; many other wind shells rustle, especially when running in them, but the nylon is nice and quiet.
