Impressively warm and thoughtfully designed, the Fjällräven Expedition Mid Winter Jacket is a standout synthetic layer for cold-weather hikes and outdoor adventures. It retains loft and warmth admirably, even in damp conditions, and its longer cut with a dropped hem ensures excellent coverage, keeping your lower back warm while allowing space for substantial layering underneath. If a shell is needed in harsher weather, opting for an oversized one would be wise due to the jacket’s bulk.
The design is as practical as it is eco-conscious. Hand-warming zip pockets and a convenient internal chest pocket provide ample storage, and the jacket is made entirely from recycled materials—a commendable step towards sustainability.
The hood, while adjustable, has only a single adjustment point, which might leave you wanting greater customisation in extreme conditions. However, the jacket’s overall comfort, warmth, and reliability easily outweigh this minor shortcoming. It is an excellent choice for staying cosy in the outdoors.
