Our Verdict
Rab’s Exion 55 is a well-balanced trekking pack designed for multi-day hikes and over night adventures, offering a solid mix of comfort, accessibility, and durability. Weighing 1,918 grams (medium/large), it provides enough structure to carry heavier loads without feeling cumbersome, making it an excellent option for backpackers who prioritise stability and organisation on the trail.
The V-TRAX adjustable back system allows for a tailored fit, transferring weight effectively to the hips for improved load distribution. The wraparound harness and thick lumbar padding ensure a secure and comfortable carry, while the 6mm aluminium frame adds stability without excess weight. The extendable lid provides an extra 5 litres of storage, which is helpful for longer trips or additional gear.
Access is a standout feature, with a U-shaped front zip and lower entry point, making it easy to reach kit without unpacking everything from the top. The side mesh pockets are well-sized, but the compression straps can make water bottle access less convenient, especially when the pack is fully loaded.
