Our Verdict
The Guardian Purifier Pump is the first mechanical filter that removes viruses, bacteria, protozoa, dirt and other particles all at once and is the first filter to integrate a self-cleaning design too. I like all this in one devices! It’s easy to use, reassuringly robust, and maintenance-free; all extremely useful for travellers and wilderness explorers. Plus it packs away to the size of a Nalgene bottle, pretty nifty!
It's rugged design has been built to withstand heavy use, freezing temperatures, drops and harsh environments. The fact that you can use it to obtain clean water from just about any source is amazing, but at a little under £300 and weighing a substantial 490g, it is a heavier and pricier than other filters on the market. But the fact the cartridge is long lasting, treating up to 10,000L of water, it could work out cost effective in the long run.
If you want the best - here it is, though it comes at a price in both cash terms and weight carried, but if you're heading off to an area where you are likely to use it a lot - its going to be worth the investment.
