For day hikes, light overnights, sure-footed scrambles, and fast descents on two wheels, the Aeon 27 is built to move with you over all terrain. With a range of technical features for all ascents and a close fitting back system that flexes as you move.
Rab says:
Carrying everything you need for mountain days, the Aeon is designed to give you freedom of movement over all terrain. The close-fitting Air Contour X™ carry system is sturdy enough to carry heavy loads, whilst keeping the weight centred for agility on steep, tricky trails. It’s semi-rigid structure and vacuum formed back panel, moulds to your shape and keeps the air flowing. It has a wrap-around stretch yoke that fits neatly over the back of the shoulders for a soft, secure fit, with an adjustable back length and forward pull hip belt to personalise the fit for all day comfort.
This panel loader pack is refined and streamlined, with a low-profile style optimised for all mountain ascents. At 27L there’s enough space to pack gear for lightweight bivi overnights or bothy stopovers. It has two TipGripper walking pole attachments, a walking axe loop, and easy access, expanding stretch pockets, ideal for stashing wet gear. The zipped hipbelt pockets hold snacks or compass and the rain cover is prepared for all weather. Completed with a robust 70D construction now made with 50% recycled fabric, the Aeon is ideal for clocking miles over rugged ground.
Our Verdict
The Aeon is Rab's lightweight day sack that is designed to provide everything you need for a mountain day.
The main features are that what seems like a simplistic day sack actually offers a good solid back-system that can both help support weight but also is comfortable because it is close fitting, but also breathable. The storage pocket on the front of the bag is perfect for waterproofs or a mid-layer that needs to be reached quickly. the pockets on the sides and hip belt are good easily accessiable storage spaces for water bottles and smaller items such as gels or snacks.
The compression straps on the sides of the bag help to keep things in place when moving fast and the multi-lock straps on the rear allow for attachment of walking poles, helmets or axes.
This bag is simple in looks but is perfect for a range of different activities due to a well thought out design and features.
