Mountain Equipment says:
EXOLITE 125 stretch double weave fabric combines high levels of wind resistance with rapid moisture transfer and unhindered movement. This is a Vest that’s ideal to layer over a t-shirt or lightweight fleece when you need a little added protection.
Our Verdict
Echo Vest uses tough Exolite 125 softshell fabric with good stretch to provide a tailored fit. The Echo has no insulation; its main purpose is to protect your core from wind chill. If you are bouldering or climbing and don’t wish to restrict your movement but still have some additional protection, this would be a good additional layer. It would also work well as an outer layer for cyclists, and Fast hikers will appreciate the vest’s ability to block the wind without running the risk of overheating, especially in windy conditions.
The vest has room for a base layer and mid-layer underneath, and I found the vest fitted well, especially around the arms, where it cinches in to prevent drafts from entering. It's quite a specific piece, but in the right condition, it excels
