The Vibram outsole delivers reliable grip, while the proven GORE-TEX membrane protects your feet in wet conditions. The Ducan II has been meticulously designed to work with the natural anatomy of the foot for the most comfortable, precise fit. With a fresh design, cutting-edge features and proven alpine performance, the Ducan is a classic for all the right reasons.
Our Verdict
Weighing just 425 grams per boot (UK size 8), the Ducan II feels light underfoot yet offers solid support thanks to Mammut’s Flextron technology. This innovative feature integrates a spring-steel sole into the midsole, promoting a natural rolling motion and efficient energy transfer on steep ascents or uneven ground. The Vibram outsole provides a dependable grip on rocky paths and wet trails, while the GORE-TEX lining ensures your feet stay dry, no matter the conditions.
The boot’s engineered mesh upper, paired with a mono-tongue and asymmetric lacing, delivers a secure, adaptable fit that reduces hotspots over long distances. While the high ankle collar offers ample protection, I found it slightly stiff during initial wear—a point worth considering for those who prefer a more flexible fit around the ankle.
