Our Verdict
The Sea to Summit Detour Collapsible Kettle (1.6L) hits a sweet spot for functionality and portability. The stainless steel base and lid handle heat well and feel solid, while the food-grade silicone walls collapse flat to just over 5 centimetres, saving precious pack space. The double handles give excellent control when pouring, and the LidKeep system — a small silicone clip that secures the lid to the pot while in use — is a surprisingly helpful detail for busy camp kitchens.
With a 1.6-litre capacity, it’s generous enough for two brews or a round of porridge, and the wide base helps speed up boil times. I can see this being just as useful for vanlife setups or basecamp breakfasts as it is in the hills.
