The Codale DRY Mitts are waterproof, lightweight, and highly insulated. They are best used as part of a layering system for your hands, and they excel at winter hill or for any outdoor pursuit when you aren't heading into cold, high, exposed areas.
Trekmates says:
Hybrid quilted and stretch waterproof mitten ideal for everyday winter walking.
Our Verdict
The Codale DRY Mitts are slim, lightweight, highly insulated mitts that repel rain, snow and sleet. Though these gloves are waterproof, it's always best to err on the side of caution, as they can still wet out, so if you are heading up into the mountains, it is better to use a pair of mitts with a dedicated “hard chell” to guarantee they will stay dry, they work best when incorporated into a winter layering system for your hands.
When used independently, they provide excellent levels of warmth; they excel at winter hill or for any outdoor pursuit when you aren't heading into cold, high, exposed areas.
The stretch polyester fabric around the wrist gives these gloves an excellent fit. The low-profile design works well with other gloves and fits seamlessly under your jacket cuff. The palm of the glove has some silicon print that helps with grip, and the touchscreen functionality works well despite the fact they are mitts; they are capable of some basic navigation and photos.
