Expedition Foods’ delicious light-weight meals provide the perfect nutrition for a wide range of outdoor pursuits. Freeze-drying food is the most successful method of preservation, making it taste better, look better, weigh less and last longer.

Expedition Foods says

Beef and Potato Hotpot.

Preparation: REMOVE THE OXYGEN ABSORBER* (Sachet) from inside the pouch. Slowly add up to 200ml hot water, stirring as you pour and then close the bag. Wait 5-8 minutes for the food to rehydrate.

Cold water will suffice, however the re-hydration time is much longer.

* The oxygen absorber helps maintain product freshness and is non toxic. DO NOT EAT.

Expedition Foods meals have a long shelf life of up to 5 years.

Our Verdict

Expedition Foods offers a good variety of main meals and desserts and a choice of serving sizes with their High Energy (800+ kcal), Regular Serving (450 kcal) and Extreme Energy or Regular Serving for Two (1000 kcal) ranges.

Expedition Foods provide the perfect meal for everyone from extreme athletes to campers and hikers – in fact, anyone who desires great-tasting food on the go.

7/10

STAFF'S TASTE TEST - Calorie count for Expedition Foods is around the 450mark, just below most others which are typically 550-600calories. If you don’t normally have a starter try a cup-a-soup with crackers to boost the meal. I added 260ml boiling water and resealed the bag – left it wrapped in a down jacket for the full time specified. First mouthful was a bit bland so added salt to taste. Much better. All had rehydrated, there was only slight meaty taste to it – veg was dominated by swede, would have preferred more onion – which you could add as a fresh ingredient, with that it might be a 7.5, but as it is I only give it 6.5/10.
