A lightweight and warm 3-season mat that incorporates an aluminium reflective coating reflects your body heat back at you.
Vango says:
The Vango Aotrom Thermo trek sleeping mat has advanced warmth properties as it features our new ThermoFlex® fabric with an aluminium reflective coating, retaining heat and protecting you from the cold. The Single Hole Siliconised Hollow Fibre Core adds warmth by insulating your body from the ground and its Air Filled Welded Channels mould to the contours of the ground and your body for a more comfortable sleep. It's also lightweight with a small pack size, ideal for the most daring adventurers.
Our Verdict
This is a warm, durable and comfortable mat at a very reasonable price; I have a few issues with it, but I'm impressed for what it is, a good budget or entry-level 3-season mat. I'm a side sleeper and found this mat comfortable enough, the large, unusual-shaped baffles contort and support your body well, and the gaps left between those baffles make room for your sleeping bag to loft into trapping more warm air.
It only has one valve, which will let air in but not out unless you push the airlock in with a finger or the valve cover; I'm never a fan of doing this, as it seems the quickest way to break the valve.
The mat also doesn't come with a pump sack; I tried all the ones I could find in the office, and none fit, so I can't suggest one to buy, (I have seen someone use an electric pump to inflate, but I'm unsure which type they used) This means you are going to have to blow into it the old-fashioned way, with your lungs, not something I relish after a long day hiking.
The mat went away into its stuff sack quickly enough, and it packed down small.
