The Telemark 2.2 simply adds a second door to the original, massively popular tent. Keeping the same materials and design it still manages to keep the low weight and the impressive packsize.
Nordisk says
Telemark 2 LW with an entrance at each side for easy entry and exit. This low weight and durable tent is preferred by backpackers, ultra-runners, and adventure racers. The small pack size and technical construction combined with state-of-the-art components make it a perfect companion. The poles are DAC aluminium and the aluminium pegs are Nordisk Triple Twister. Despite the low weight there are no compromises on function not comfort as Telemark 2 LW is well ventilated and features easy adjustable guy ropes, magnetic 'quick-snap' door closure, inner pockets for storage and the possibility to convert the outer door into a canopy using the three corner poles and the included extra guy rope.
Our Verdict
Nordisk's Telemark 2.2 LW Tent has the same dimensions as the original two man version but the added benefit of the second door. The pitch is quick and easy with the inner and fly pre-attached, as is packing away with the internal storage pocket doubling up at the stuff sack with places for the poles and pegs too. The lightweight material and single pole design is perfect for light and fast adventures and having spent numerous nights in the original two man tent I can safely say it is much more durable than you'd expect. The packsize is fantastic and the single pole has short sections that allow the whole thing to be easily stored in smaller day pack size bags.
If weight, packsize, ease of use and high performance are priorities then this is certainly worth considering. Condensation was a bit of an issue but it's been significantly improved with the second door allowing greater air flow. Having spent a wet and windy night in the Telemark for the OMM with a partner I can safely say this two door version would have been much better to use for two of us. For one person use there's no real benefit, simply a weight penalty for the second door but as soon as two people are involved it so much more practical and better to use, so definitely worth the extra grams.
