This is one of the tents Hilleberg has built it's reputations on. A tough tent with some of the strongest, most durable materials around it would not be out of place in some of the most inhospitable places on earth. A spacious tunnel tent with quality construction and design features that allow for year-round use.
Hilleberg says:
The Nammatj 2 is the master of both high and low country, equally suited for a high altitude expedition or a weekend walk in the local hills. This robust all-season, all-arounder pitches quickly and easily, can be taken down and moved in a flash, yet is far stronger and lighter than any other tent in its class.
Because of its superb weight to strength ratio and compact footprint, the Nammatj 2 has become immensely popular with extreme users, such as polar travelers looking to save weight, mountaineers doing remote routes in the highest ranges, professional guides, and military special forces teams. But these same characteristics are just as highly prized by more “regular” users, as well: backpackers, cycle and paddle tourers, and anyone needing maximum strength while reducing weight.
Our Verdict
Hilleberg's Nammatj 2 Person Tent is a classic four season tent that has been used around the world to provide shelter from some of the worst conditions going. For the 2.6kg weight you are getting a strong, durable tent with plenty of space inside, a good vestibule and nice design features. The tunnel design stands up to winds really well and although not ideal for taking heavy snow loads it will still cope with UK conditions. The all in one pitching is ideal for wet weather and once you've got used to putting it up in all conditions it is a fairly easy task. Good vents and a decent space between the inner and outer minimise condensation but in more humid conditions the fly needs to be rolled up to allow more air through.
This is a Black Label tent from the Hilleberg range which means you are getting the strongest most durable type of tent they make. It has thick Kerlon 1800 outer fabric and 10mm poles providing amazing levels of strength against the worst weather you'd expect to encounter. There is an obvious weight increase attached to these materials being used but they are designed to withstand the strongest winds in mountainous and polar environments. This tent may well be overkill for most people's camping needs but if you are searching for a tent for winter epics or adventures in some of the harshest environments in the world then it is well worth it.

Features
- Kerlon 1800 outer tent fabric and 10 mm poles make for an exceptionally strong and stable tent.
- All season construction: outer tent walls extend to the ground and mesh areas are backed with adjustable fabric panels.
- Tunnel construction offers maximum space to weight ratio and is the ideal choice for mobile journeys.
- Plenty of room for two occupants and their gear.
- Linked but seperable inner and outer tent for simultaneous pitching.
- Tunnel design requires only four pegs for pitching, and the simple, single opening continouse sleeve and pole tensioner system is quick to pitch and remarkably stable.
- A single entrance and vestibule afford easy access and plenty of storage space, but keep the weight very low.
- An optional footprint covers the entire area of the outer tent, including the vestibules. It connects directly to the tent, and can be left attached during pitching.
- The inner tent can be replaced with a Mesh Inner tent (sold separately).
- The outer and inner tents can be used separately. Pitching the inner tent alone requires optional pole holderes (sold separately).
