Versatile trekking shorts steeped in Fjällräven DNA. Abisko Hybrid Trail Shorts for men are made from G-1000 Lite Stretch on the front and full stretch recycled polyamide/elastane fabric on the back. The front can be waxed for enhanced weather resistance where it is most needed while the back is highly ventilating and gives excellent freedom of movement. The elasticated waist with regular fly opening further enhances comfort and fit. Two open hand pockets and two buttoned leg pockets, one with a zipper.
Our Verdict
The updated Abisko Hybrid Trail Shorts from Fjällräven blend their classic G-1000 Lite fabric at the front with stretch panels across the back. The result is a pair of shorts that feel sturdy without being stiff and airy enough to stay comfortable in warm conditions. At 258g (medium), they're heavier than most ultralight shorts, but the trade-off is noticeably more protection and longevity in rough terrain.
The fit is regular and roomy, I like the elasticated waistband—it’s secure but not restrictive—and the pocket setup is more generous than you would find in a pair of ultralight shorts.. Two deep hand pockets and twin leg pockets (one with a zip) cover the essentials without overcomplicating things. The open stretch panels at the back also double as vents, which help in hot weather.
