Waterproof, windproof, and built for cold-weather hikes – Sealskinz Briston socks are your go-to for harsh conditions.
Sealskinz says:
The original, 100% waterproof, windproof & breathable mid length sock featuring hydrostop to reduce water ingress. The inner lining is crafted from fine Merino Wool to insulate and regulate temperature making this perfect for use in very cold conditions. Now with super soft face fabric.
Our Verdict
The Sealskinz Briston socks are a robust option for all-weather hikers, particularly in cold, wet conditions. I found the waterproofing superb, with the Hydrostop feature effectively keeping water from creeping in. The merino wool lining does an excellent job of regulating temperature, ensuring warmth without causing overheating, and the breathable design keeps feet dry.
The footbed padding adds noticeable comfort on uneven ground, while the anti-blister design holds up even after hours of wear. Despite being slightly heavier than warm-weather alternatives (around 120g for a large), they feel supportive and don’t slide down, thanks to the zonal elastication. The four-way stretch also gives them a snug, secure fit without being restrictive.
